Timber Finishes

We offer various timber stains, paint finishes and oils to achieve your desired finish. Our paint finishes consist of a sealer, base coats followed by several top coats for maximum protection against harsh weather conditions. These finishes are absorbed by the surface of the timber which becomes an integral part of the timber, allowing it to still breathe while offering a water repellent surface.

To see our different stains and paint colours in person, simply call us to arrange a visit to our showroom where you can see the finishing options for your timber casement doors.

Glass Options

Our timber casement doors are made with double glazing as standard. The glass specification used is typically 4mm toughened glass, with a 16mm argon gas cavity and a 4mm toughened pane with a low E glass coating.

This specification achieves a Ug value of 1.1 W/m²K but an improved rating can be achieved with triple glazing if required.

There are also various glass options available, including solar control coatings, decorative glass, translucent glass, low iron glass and low maintenance glass are all possible.

Ironmongery

The ironmongery is the finishing touch to any timber casement door. Whether you are looking for a more contemporary finish or a traditional style, we have a broad selection of ironmongery options for you to choose from. Not only are there a selection of styles but there is also a choice of colours and metals so you can find the perfect finishing touch to your timber glazing.

At our showroom in Amersham you can gain design inspiration and handle each ironmongery option in person. To book your showroom visit, simply contact a member of the team.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Each timber door we manufacture is designed for minimal maintenance across its lifetime. We create hardwood timber doors that suit modern day lives perfectly as they are easy to work with and maintain.

Even though it will be minimal, your timber doors will require cleaning and maintenance occasionally. To do this you will just need to clean the wooden frames gently with hot soapy water using a sponge. To refinish the woodwork with a fresh coat of paint, we highly recommend choosing a paint that is specifically designed for timber glazing as it will have excellent weather protection properties.

Read our ‘Maintenance of Timber’ page for more information.

FAQs

How much do timber casement doors cost?

Due to the bespoke nature of all of our products, our prices are individual to each project as each product is manufactured to the exact sizes, specification and finish for the project in hand. For an accurate cost for your timber casement doors, speak to a member of the Belgravia Hardwood team.

What is engineered hardwood?

Engineered hardwood or engineered timber is created through an established technique whereby layers of timber are placed on top of each other with the grain of each piece in an opposing direction to the other. This multi-layering helps to even out any movement in the timber caused by moisture or temperature, resulting in a highly durable timber.

How much maintenance will my timber casement doors need?

The maintenance of each product depends on the timber species and finish that has been chosen. We recommend yearly or twice a year cleaning of our timber framed glazing so you can check for any signs of damage before it develops into a larger problem. Every two years, we recommend a new coat of paint to maintain a good protective coating for the timber. For further information read our maintenance of timber page.

With years of experience in the supply and installation of timber framed windows and doors we can offer a tailored service to each client. Whether you are a homeowner or an architect; our experienced team can help advise on the best solution for your project.
